Key irregular verbs to know:
Used for descriptions in the past, repeated/habitual actions, and what things were like.
Take the nous form of the present tense, remove -ons, add these endings:

Key point: The only verb with an irregular stem in the imperfect is être → stem = ét- (j'étais, tu étais, il était, etc.)
The gerund means “while doing” or “by doing”. It's formed with:
en + present participle (-ant form)
How to form it: Take the nous form of the present tense, remove -ons, add -ant.
